Hyperlocal Services to Prepare Rural Communities for Extreme Weather-Related Natural Disasters

The research team will engage civic partners representing farmers, community organizations, state and local governmental agencies to 1) develop and test the effectiveness of hyperlocal weather forecasting in improving winter-storm emergency response for rural communities in New York State and 2) create a transferrable model for the rest of the U.S. through the national Cooperative Extension and Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) networks.
